Business Support Programme (BSP) for Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia and Turkey
| ----------------------------------------- | THE CONCEPT |
The Business Support Programme (BSP) is promoted and financed by European Commission to assist Business Representative Organisations (BROs) from beneficiaries countries - new European members and candidates countries - in acquainting the acquis communautaire. Main objective of the BSP is to help the participating BROs to the full familiarisation with the relevant acquis and its implications vis-a-vis their company members and to strengthen independent and effective Business Representative Organisations in the Beneficiary Countries. Moreover, the programme aims at supporting the BROs in becoming more efficient and effective in representing their members' interest and strengthen the contribution they are able to give to policy-making process, both nationally and at European level.
The current programme is focused around Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia and Turkey considering their accession process and the demands of compliance with the acquis. In particular, the project Promotion of Environmental Certifications and Corporate Social Responsibility towards EU legislation adoption and SMEs competitiveness aims at supporting the ability of BROs and their associate companies in the Beneficiary countries to take on and accomplish with the Community acquis and support its enforcement. Activities concern mainly promotion and adoption of safety and environmental certifications and strategies for the implementation of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in compliance with the European acquis.
The partners define the two subjects as main project activities thanks to their deep experience in supporting the implementation of the EU legislation affecting SMEs among its associated enterprises. The activities focus on State of the art reports in the adoption of CSR procedures and environmental legislation in the partner countries, with a comparative analysis and the identification of best practices and methods to be applied in the beneficiaries countries. Seminars, conferences and study tours are also essential part of the project along with activities for dissemination and strengthening of the international network. Confapi acts as Lead Applicant within a partnership which involves BROs both from other EU members (Germany, Hungary and Slovenia) and from Beneficiary countries (Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia and Turkey). In particular the partners are:
- Italian Confederation of small and medium private industry - CONFAPI

- Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia
- International Association of Building Service Contractors in Germany
- Confederation of employers and industrialists in Bulgaria
- Croatian Employers' Association
